Gathi Abraham, MD, MPH
Gathi Abraham, MD, MPH is a child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist who specializes in the treatment of ADHD, anxiety disorders, and autism spectrum disorder. He highly values getting to know his patients and families first and foremost as individuals. While he recognizes that medication can be helpful in the management of psychiatric conditions, he often incorporates lifestyle changes and mindfulness-based strategies as cornerstones of treatment. He also frequently recommends individual and/or family psychotherapy as an essential part of treatment.
Dr. Abraham is a native speaker of Malayalam, proficient in Spanish, and has dabbled with learning Hindi, German, and Portuguese at various times in his life. In addition to direct clinical care, Dr. Abraham hopes to work at the systems level to improve mental and physical health outcomes for patients and families by developing better ways of embedding mental health services within medical offices and schools.
Education and Training:
Dr. Abraham is from Chicago and attended Northwestern University for his undergraduate studies and medical school. He studied abroad in Toledo, Spain as an undergrad and did a medical mission trip to Oaxaca, Mexico during medical school. Between his 3rd and 4th year of medical school, he completed his Master’s in Public Health at the Harvard School of Public Health, with a concentration in Health and Social Behavior.
Dr. Abraham completed his Psychiatry Residency at George Washington University and his Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at Children’s National Health System in Washington, DC. He is anticipating an appointment as an Assistant Professor within the Children’s National Department of General and Community Pediatrics, working as the psychiatric consultant to Children’s Health Center – Adams Morgan.

Dr. Abraham is Board Certified in both Adult and Child Psychiatry and Licensed to practice in the State of Maryland.
