The Chesapeake Career Center is the only career center in the Washington, DC area that takes attention and learning issues into account as we assess for strengths, interests and personality type.
The Chesapeake Career Center is the only career center in the Metro area that specializes in career guidance for those with ADHD and /or learning differences. Our career services are provided by professionals that have extensive knowledge of ADHD and LD challenges. They combine that knowledge with an assessment of your goals, values, interests, and abilities to find a career direction or job that is uniquely suited to you.
If you have already been assessed for ADHD or LD issues, we can incorporate those test results into our career assessment. If you have never had a neuropsychological evaluation, we can provide that in combination with a career assessment.

Services We Offer
Career testing
What delineates us from others is that we utilize brain-based career guidance that integrates results of neuropsychological or psychoeducational testing into career testing results. Our goal is to guide individuals to recognize their strengths and interests and to understand the types of jobs and careers that will be the best match for them.
We’ve worked with the ADHD/ LD Community for many years and understand the unique needs of our clients when choosing a career path.
We offer the Highlands Ability Battery, a test instrument that focuses on cognitive strengths and provides career direction. It is a measure of natural abilities rather than disability. We couple that with personality and values measurements and interest testing.
Career Assessment at Chesapeake integrates the following:
• Neuropsychological or Psychoeducational assessments
• Highlands Ability Battery
• Strong Interest Inventory
• Myers-Briggs Personality and Values assessment
The results of these findings are presented in a feedback session with a summary of the findings making clear recommendations for both educational and career paths.
Our assessment integrates neuropsychological test results with ability testing, interest testing, and career-focused personality assessment. By looking at all of these factors, we can help you find a career that best suits your needs.
Career services for young adults
Young adults with ADHD or LD often face more challenges in their job search after leaving school. We understand that they may need more structure and support to be successful. Our career services for young adults include:
• job search coaching
• assistance with resume writing
• job interview rehearsal
We support young adults in the planning, organization and follow-through that is required to land their first job.
Career coaching for adults
Many adults find it very helpful to continue to work with one of our career center staff, following their specialized career assessment as they go through the often lengthy process of finding a job that is a good match.
Ongoing support for mid-career adults
Adults may have started on a career that is poorly suited for their abilities. They often feel stalled and desire to explore workplace options that provide a better fit. Some adults come to us already knowing the general career direction that they want to pursue but need guidance and consultation to evaluate jobs that they may be considering.
These services are provided in our main center in Bethesda, MD. Career assessments and career coaching can be provided remotely via Skype or Zoom.
