Consultations
We offer 90-minute consultations that include review of records, clinical interview and completion of questionnaires. These consultations may be sufficient for diagnosis of adult ADHD, although when other co-occurring conditions are involved, we may recommend testing following this initial consultation in order to make a diagnosis and treatment recommendation.
Other reasons for a consultation include:
- Review of testing done elsewhere
- Focusing on a specific issue for those already carefully diagnosed
- Referral from your or your child’s current psychotherapist requesting an ADHD consultation
Extended consultations
A single consultation is not sufficient in all instances to adequately address your concerns. If we believe this is the case, we will discuss this with you and will recommend a follow-up session to continue our discussion.
For consultations regarding your child or teen, we will interview one or both parents without the child. If it seems advisable to interview the child or teen, we will recommend a follow-up consultation.
Gathering information prior to the consultation
We encourage you to send us an email narrative outlining in detail your current concerns, current medications (if any), and prior treatment and diagnoses (if any). We will also email you intake forms to complete and return prior to the consultation.
Consultations can be most effective if you send us copies of all pertinent records (report cards, other school records, medical records, copies of previous evaluations, work records, performance evaluations, etc.) for our review in advance of the consultation. If your or your child’s records are especially extensive, there may be an additional charge for our time to review them.
Consultation summary
Following your consultation, we will provide a brief consultation summary responding to your concerns and making recommendations.
