Dr. Wells has a strong interest and expertise in helping young adults and adults with ADHD, learning disabilities and related issues in the academic and workplace settings. In working with young adults through transitions associated with this period in life, Dr. Wells works with clients through various changes including moving away from home, going to college, entering the workforce or changing careers. When helping with workplace issues, Dr. Wells typically focuses on challenges such as planning, organizing, completion of projects and assignments, interpersonal difficulties with colleagues and supervisors, time management, work and family balance, and career development. Dr. Wells works with clients in helping to understand how ADHD has affected career choices as well as how ADHD impacts their work on a day to day basis. She helps employees take the necessary steps to create positive work environments in order to foster productive and successful careers. In the academic setting, Dr. Wells assists students with time management, study skills, organization, advocacy in obtaining educational accommodations in academic settings, and serves in a consultative role between administrative and mental health personnel. She has served as a coach, advocate, consultant, evaluator and therapist in these settings. Dr. Wells works with high school, college and graduate students in understanding how ADHD impacts their learning and also assists students in choosing colleges and fields of study. Dr. Wells works with clients in a solution-focused style of psychotherapy, primarily focusing on current challenges and issues. She helps clients to better understand their personal histories, patterns of feelings, reactions and decisions as they affect their current functioning at work, school, and in their personal relationships. Dr. Wells utilizes a cognitive-behavioral approach as the underpinning of her therapeutic style – helping clients to examine and change the thought process behind behaviors.
