I am very pleased to join the Chesapeake ADHD Center following my recent move to Maryland from Michigan.   I am a native Michigander and graduate of the University of Michigan, “Go Blue”.  I have known of Kathleen Nadeau, Chesapeake Center Director, for many years, through my work with Arthur Robin, Ph.D.,  a nationally known ADHD specialist in the Department of Psychology at Children’s Hospital of Michigan with whom I worked for many years.

When I joined the staff at Children’s Hospital in 1990, I was a member of the team of psychologists that staffed adult, adolescent and children’s ADHD clinics.  These clinics were ground breaking efforts developed to teach and train psychologists, medical residents and psychiatry residents in a major medical school hospital center.  I was trained and supervised in diagnosing and treating ADHD by Dr. Robin.  While on the staff of Children’s Hospital, the opportunity to participate and contribute to research projects advancing the knowledge of ADHD was the standard for professionals.

During my many professional years in Michigan I was involved in training and supervision of psychologists. I was the Director of the APA Psychology Internship Program at Children’s Hospital from 1993-1997. I hope to continue training and supervision of professionals through my work at the Chesapeake Center.

Through my involvement in Dr. Robin’s research on parent/teen conflict in teens, I developed an awareness in the importance of working with family relationships either individually or in family therapy settings.  I have a strong interest in helping young adults and adults work through a variety of life challenges that so often accompany ADHD, including:

  • Workplace issues

  • Relationship issues

  • Depression/anxiety

  • Daily life management challenges

As a therapist, my primary focus is individual Interpersonal work with adolescents, young adults and adults.  The emphasis in therapy is family history, social development and adjustment relating to present life challenges. Thinking about thinking is utilized to restructure the pattern of daily life.  The therapeutic atmosphere that I attempt to create is practical and interactive.
